HOUSTON – Tari Eason’s season has officially come to an end as the Houston Rockets forward is scheduled to undergo season-ending leg surgery on Monday. This announcement was made by head coach Ime Udoka on Saturday night.
Eason has been sidelined since January 1 due to a benign growth on his left shin bone. Udoka confirmed that the growth was a preexisting condition that Eason had been managing for a while. A bone graft procedure will be performed on Eason’s shin, and he is expected to be out for four months, which positions him to return in time for next season.
“He had obviously been going through some things throughout the year and had a benign growth on the shin bone, specifically the tibia,” Udoka explained. “He took a blow early in the season, and it flared up. He played through it despite some pain, which was mainly a matter of pain tolerance. Once the pain became too severe, he decided to stop.”
This season, Eason has recorded averages of 9.8 points and seven rebounds per game, despite participating in only 22 contests. The 22-year-old forward was selected by the Rockets with the 17th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. In his rookie season, he averaged 9.3 points and six rebounds coming off the bench.
