The birth of a baby is an event that parents look forward to for several months. It is often the happiest and most joyful day of their lives. Months of anticipation, crib preparation, baby showers, painting of rooms leads to finally having the baby arrive. Most of the time babies arrive safely and health but occasionally a birth injury occurs that causes a serious injury or even death.
A baby recently died at the East Houston Regional Medical Center and the parents are seeking answers as to what happened. They arrived at the hospital to have labor induced, a common procedure. But during the delivery something went incredibly wrong. The baby allegedly got stuck in the birth canal and while the doctor tried to remove the baby she broke the baby’s clavicle. The parents say they requested an emergency C-Section but the doctor did not perform one. The baby wound up dying. The doctor has been sued twice before for medical malpractice and was also ordered to go through 20 hours of training for high risk obstetrics for failing to meet the standard of care in three other patients.
When a baby suffers serious injury or death during delivery, a lawyer with experience in medical malpractice cases can help parents get the answers they deserve. An attorney can review medical records, consult with medical experts and make sure that the parents get the important answers. When there is evidence of malpractice the attorney can hold medical professionals accountable for their negligence. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, pain and suffering, funeral expenses and other damages.
