A woman from the Houston area has filed a lawsuit against Houston Methodist Hospital, alleging that doctors operated on the wrong foot during a surgical procedure. The incident reportedly took place in January 2021 at Houston Methodist West Hospital.

According to court documents and local news reports, the plaintiff, identified as Mary “Linda” Almanza, sought surgical relief for painful bone spurs that were notably affecting her left foot. She underwent the procedure in December 2021 but discovered post-surgery that the operation had been performed on her right foot instead.

<p”Upon waking from the anesthesia, Almanza expressed her outrage, immediately informing the attending staff, “They did the wrong foot.” The nurse reportedly responded with shock, asking for clarification. Almanza reiterated her concerns, leading to a troubling situation regarding the consent forms.

Following the surgery, Almanza claims that a doctor pressured her husband to initial a consent form that had been altered to reflect a different procedure than what they had originally agreed upon. “She changed it. She changed it, and she initialed when she changed it… And she changed it from doing the foot we agreed on to something we didn’t agree on,” Almanza stated.
