Houston residents know how important it is to have physicians they can trust. A person’s health is the most important thing they have and when a physician is negligent in a procedure a patient can be left with permanent injuries.
A Port Neches man filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against his childhood physician claiming permanent hearing loss from a medical procedure. When the patient was 3-years-old he had wax removed from his ears by the physician. The left ear’s wax was successfully removed, but when the physician attempted to remove the wax from the right ear he tore the ear drum, resulting in hearing loss. The patient is suing for the hearing damage, medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish and loss of earnings.
When a patient suffers because of a doctor’s negligence they should be aware of their legal rights. Physicians have the duty to do no harm so when harm is done to a patient the physicians should be held accountable for their actions. When a worsened condition or death occurs because of the negligence, compensation may be available for the victims and their families. A medical malpractice lawsuit can help a family recover compensation, even in the complicated medical and legal systems, and determine if the case has merit. Many medical conditions carry a lifetime of expenses that can drain a family’s finances.
Medical professionals who negligently cause harm to their patients should be held accountable. Houston residents who have been harmed by a physician have many legal rights that they should know.
